How the reviews work

I own every product I review and I use it at home before I write about it. The review starts with the spec sheet and the manufacturer's own claims, then says which of those held up in my living room, on my desk or on the train. I compare each product to what else you could buy for the money and say who it suits.

Scores are out of ten and they are mine. They are not Amazon's star ratings and they are not an average of anyone else's reviews. A 7 means it does the job well for the right buyer. A 9 means I would buy it with my own money without hesitating.

How the site makes money

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When you click a "See it on Amazon" button and buy something, Amazon pays me a small commission. It does not change the price you pay. It does not change what I write either: nobody at Amazon or any manufacturer sees a review before it goes up, and nobody sends me free products in exchange for a score.
